GIVING

Church is a family, where we love each other and care for one another. As soon as a church starts speaking about finances people might get a bit uncomfortable and the usual suspects come out to play. This causes people to draw back and not express their faith through tithing and the giving of offerings.

Consider for a moment Deutoronomy 8 from verse 18, up to this verse Moses is telling the people to remember that it is God who had brought them to the place they found themselves. Now Moses encourages the people with the following:

Deut 8: 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today. (NIV)

It is God who gives us the ability to work and produce for ourselves and our families. It is God who makes us successful. So if everything we have and can produce comes from Him, then let us be generous in our giving.
